LPH Unhas Socializes Halal Certification to Makassar MSMEs through Brochure Distribution

Makassar, April 19, 2025 – Hasanuddin University Halal Assurance Institute (LPH Unhas) again shows its commitment in encouraging the readiness of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to face the mandatory halal policy which will be fully implemented in 2026. On Saturday (19/4), LPH Unhas conducted socialization activities by distributing halal information brochures at a number of MSME points in Makassar City.

This activity is part of field education which aims to reach business actors who have not been accessed by formal assistance or technical guidance. The team from LPH Unhas visited MSME players in markets, culinary centers, and home production locations to distribute brochures containing important information about the halal certification process, its benefits, and registration procedures.

“Through the distribution of this brochure, we want to provide basic understanding in a practical and easy-to-understand manner for business actors, especially those who have never participated in socialization or technical guidance directly,” said one member of the LPH Unhas team on the sidelines of the activity.

MSME players who received brochures welcomed this activity. Many of them admitted that they had just learned that in 2026, products such as food, beverages, cosmetics, and certain used goods must have halal certification before circulating on the market.

This activity is the first step in a series of LPH Unhas pick-up programs in supporting halal awareness at the grassroots level, with the hope that more MSMEs can immediately start the certification process before the deadline set by the government.
