PROFILE OF HALAL INSPECTION CENTER (PPH)
The Halal Inspection Institution, hereinafter referred to as the Halal Inspection Center (PPH) of Hasanuddin University, operates under the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Hasanuddin University, based on Decree No. 4258/UN4.1/KEP/2019. The establishment of the Halal Inspection Center of Hasanuddin University as an official Halal Inspection Institution (LPH) consists of a management team, including one chairperson, one vice chairperson, one secretary, and one administrative staff member, supported by 12 additional human resources. All members hold academic degrees, including professors, as stipulated in the Rector’s Decree No. 5022/UN4.1/KEP/2019. The Halal Inspection Institution (LPH) of Hasanuddin University is headquartered at the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM).
The name Halal Inspection Institution – PPH Hasanuddin University refers to the institutional structure within Hasanuddin University. Since Hasanuddin University already has two main institutes—the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) and the Institute for Quality Assurance and Educational Development (LPMPP)—establishing a new independent institution was not feasible according to the university’s institutional nomenclature. Nevertheless, the Halal Inspection Center of Hasanuddin University functions in accordance with the tasks and responsibilities outlined for Halal Inspection Institutions under the applicable law.
The Halal Inspection Institution – PPH Hasanuddin University operates from a designated office located on the 3rd floor of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) building, at Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan 8, Hasanuddin University. The office is supported by one administrative staff member to facilitate daily operations. Additionally, the office is equipped with essential facilities, including computers, printers, office supplies, and other necessary equipment. Based on the Rector’s Decree No. 5022/UN4.1/KEP/2019, the organizational structure of the Halal Inspection Institution (LPH) of Hasanuddin University is as follows:
- The Rector of Hasanuddin University and the Chairperson of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) serve as advisors.
- The institution is led by a chairperson, assisted by a secretary and a treasurer.
- The institution is further supported by five division heads responsible for different operational aspects:
- Administration, Documentation, and Registration
- Auditing
- Quality Assurance
- Technical Affairs
- Consultation and Expert Services
The Halal Inspection Institution of Hasanuddin University currently has 23 certified auditors who hold professional competency certificates issued by the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP). Moreover, the institution is supported by qualified human resources who meet the regulatory requirements outlined in the applicable laws. These professionals are distributed across various faculties within Hasanuddin University and are prepared to undergo further training as Halal auditors.
To enhance its operational efficiency, the Halal Inspection Institution – PPH Hasanuddin University has established collaborations with four accredited laboratories within different faculties at Hasanuddin University. These laboratories are fully equipped and committed to supporting the institution’s activities. The available human resources span multiple disciplines, including biology, chemistry, agricultural engineering, animal science, fisheries, and pharmacy, as required by legal provisions.
Additionally, the institution is backed by experienced experts in both Islamic jurisprudence and various scientific and applied disciplines, including chemistry, biology, microbiology, physics, pharmacy, agriculture, fisheries, animal science, public health, medicine, dentistry, and law. Furthermore, the Halal Inspection Institution – PPH Hasanuddin University employs certified Halal slaughtering professionals (JULEHA) with proven expertise in their respective fields. This competency is crucial in conducting inspections related to slaughterhouses for livestock and poultry.
